Trail n. 5

Path 5 is a picturesque route that starts from Via Amba d'Oro, where the road is initially lined with private walls that tighten curve after curve. Taking the Via del Patrocinio, the path enters the Valsorda woods, which become progressively wilder and more engaging, until they get lost in the vegetation.

Shortly after the start, you come across the Ronco Belvedere, marked by a verdant enclosure, and immediately beyond it emerges the Sanctuary of the Madonna del Patrocinio. Although part of private property, the eighteenth-century sanctuary is the subject of occasional masses celebrated by the parish priest of San Gottardo. Its appearance “from a small ancient world” gives the place a nostalgic and collected charm.

After passing that area, the path resumes with an immersive wooded atmosphere, until it emerges on a sunny hill where there are some isolated houses and where, looking to the right, you can glimpse the Via Maddalena. Here a descent opens up that leads to bus stop 6, crossing paths that intertwine with paths 7 and 6.

From that point, the route continues north, penetrating the Fontanelle valley, a humid and shady territory where vegetation such as chestnut, oak, hornbeam, maple, elm, rowan and birch dominates the undergrowth. After passing the Roccolo Lucchi gate and crossing some small valleys crossed by the Garzetta stream, the path emerges onto the meadows of Cascina Margherita and Rocol Malga Rita.

Near here you will find other routes: path 9, the Downhill Cagnolera route and path 10 (which heads towards Pozza Margherita). A little further on, Path 13 and the “Pozze Path” join Path 5 near Pozza Bresciana, contributing to the final momentum of the journey that leads to the ’“Grillo arsenal”, the symbolic arrival point of the journey.

Trail 5 lends itself well to those who enjoy long and varied routes, alternating between shady woods, sunny sections, humid valleys and meadows. The connection with other paths (6, 7, 9, 10, 13, Sentiero delle Pozze) also offers the possibility of interesting variations or circular routes.
