How to get to Brescia

A CITY WITHIN REACH

Strategically located between Milan, Verona and Lake Garda, Brescia is easily accessible by car, train and aeroplane. 

Thanks to efficient and diversified connections, the city attracts visitors from all over Italy and abroad, also becoming the ideal starting point for exploring the surrounding area.

HOW TO GET HERE

By car

Brescia is served by major highways that provide direct access to the main cities of Northern Italy.

  • A4 Milan-Venice (E64) - exits: Brescia Ovest, Brescia Centro and Brescia Est.
  • A35 Brebemi (Brescia-Bergamo-Milan) - Castegnato motorway exit, continuing along the Tangenziale Sud road (SP11).
  • A21 Turin-Piacenza-Cremona-Brescia (E70) - exits: Brescia Sud and Brescia Centro.

The Limited Traffic Zone (ZTL) is in effect in the city center: car access is restricted in this area—less traffic, more space to enjoy.

To reach the city center without a car, you can park your vehicle in one of the parking lots near the center or at one of the park-and-ride facilities connected to the metro: parking at these facilities is free when using public transportation. By train

The Brescia railway station is located along the Milan-Verona-Padua-Venice line, with connections provided by regional and high-speed trains (Frecciarossa and Italo). Not only that: direct connections to many other Italian cities such as Turin, Bologna, Florence, Rome, Naples. (Frecciarossa and Italo).

Indicative travel times:

Milan from 36 minutes,

Venice from 1 hour and 40 minutes,

Rome from 4 hours.

With the train, it is also possible to reach nearby destinations like Lake Garda (Brescia-Desenzano) or Lake Iseo and the Camonica Valley (Brescia–Iseo–Edolo).

International trains and European connections

Brescia is also connected to Europe. With the international trains of ÖBB and Deutsche Bahn, you can easily depart from the city and reach various European destinations. Hop on board. The journey begins here.

By plane

Brescia can be reached from several international airports in Northern Italy, all less than 2 hours from the city:

  • Bergamo Orio al Serio (BGY) – 50 km
  • The fastest connections are by bus Autostradale (stop near FS Station), or by bus Airlink (stop at Metro Poliambulanza). Alternatively, you can take the ATB shuttle with a change at Bergamo FS.

  • Verona Villafranca (VRN) – 60 km
    Aerobus service to Verona Porta Nuova, then direct train connections to Brescia.

By bus

Brescia is connected to Italy and Europe also by bus, with national and international services active every day.

The stops are located at strategic points in the city, near the FS Station and the Poliambulanza metro Station.

Tickets are available online on the operators' websites, FlixBus, Itabus, Arriva and BlaBlaCar, or at the ticket offices of the Bus Stations.

With tourist buses

For those arriving in the city with tourist buses, the designated arrival point is the Tourist Bus Terminal in Largo Torrelunga, on via Brigata Meccanizzata, corner of via Lupi di Toscana. For the parking of tourist buses, the area on via P. Nenni is recommended.

By bicycle

Brescia is crossed by regional and national cycling routes that connect the city to other cities as well as to lakes, hills, and villages. An ideal gateway for those who choose to travel slowly and discover the area pedal by pedal.

Near the FS Station you will find the Bike Station, the parking dedicated to bicycles: a practical solution for those arriving by train with their bike.
