Brescia, a sustainable city

A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

Brescia is committed to a concrete strategy to combat climate change and improve the quality of urban life: with its Air and Climate Plan, the Municipality has launched targeted actions to reduce emissions and greenhouse gases, thus protecting the well-being of citizens and promoting a more environmentally-friendly development model.

Sustainable mobility

A central role is played by the Brescia Mobilità Group, which for years has been developing innovative solutions for moving around the city in a convenient, environmentally-friendly way, focused on:

  • public transport - with buses and the metro forming the backbone of the system
  • sharing mobility - services such as Automia (electric car sharing), Bicimia (bike sharing) and e-scooter sharing offer practical, green alternatives
  • development of future projects - the current network will be boosted with the addition of the electric tram for an even more widespread and efficient service, and an electric lift up to the Castle to allow people to reach the top of the Cidneo Hill in a quick, eco-friendly way.

The Brescia Card Museums & Mobility integrates these services with access to the main museums, making it even easier to combine culture and sustainability.

Dedicated cycle paths and projects

The city is criss-crossed by an extensive network of cycle paths that allow two-wheelers to travel around the city, but also connect the urban centre to the lakes and hills, making Brescia an ideal destination for cyclists, families and nature lovers.

As a result of the Municipality of Brescia's focus on two-wheel mobility, in 2022 the city launched BiciBrescia, a project that promotes a culture of cycling and strives to consolidate an active community in support of sustainable mobility.
