The route
Trail 16 on Mount Maddalena in Brescia is a hiking route that starts from Via San Cristoforo, near Mompiano, and leads to the Cascina Gnàri dè Mompià Refuge, with an elevation gain of around 120 metres. The estimated hiking time to reach the refuge is about 2 hours and 15 minutes, while to reach the summit of Monte Maddalena it is expected to take approximately 3 hours.
The trail features a simple and accessible route, suitable for hikers of all levels. You cross stretches of white road that wind through green meadows, passing abandoned houses and warehouses. Continuing, you enter a forest where there are alternating paved sections and hairpin bends that lead to Colle San Giuseppe and Val Fredda. On the way, there are slight climbs that do not present any particular difficulties. Directions along the route help you follow Trail 16, also known as "Val Fredda."
Once you reach the Cascina Gnàri dè Mompià Refuge, you can choose whether to head back or continue towards other destinations, such as the summit of Mount Maddalena.
