The route
Trail 14 runs between the hills of Botticino and the summit of Mount Maddalena, offering a hiking experience that combines history, nature and spectacular views.
The route begins on Via Rossini, in Botticino, which continues as Via San Michele to Via Puccini. From here, you take a paved road that leads to the foot of the mountain, marking the entrance to the forest. The trail is easily recognizable thanks to the yellow-red and white-red trail markers, which guide hikers along the way.
The itinerary winds through a lush forest, where you can admire birch, downy oak and cyclamen. The climb, although steep, is made fascinating by the presence of white antler stones and the light filtered through the trees. The lush vegetation and the scents of nature make this stretch particularly evocative.
Continuing, you reach the rock face, a point of interest for climbing enthusiasts. Here, the trail offers a panoramic view of the foothill area of Caionvico and Botticino, characterized by green hills and vineyards, alternating white soils of marly limestone.
The route continues along the Darnei Trail, a zigzagging section that passes through shrubs and leads to the Darnei Pool, located between Trails 1 and 2. This point offers an additional opportunity to stop and admire the surrounding landscape.
The final section of the trail leads to a large meadow located at approximately 850 meters above sea level, an ideal spot for observing paragliders in flight and enjoying breathtaking views of the city of Brescia and the plain below.
