The route

A short itinerary, but full of changes in scenery. It starts from Poliambulanza, skimming interesting agricultural areas, and immediately leads into the city’s newest neighbourhoods. Here, greenery is everywhere: in the parks, along the avenues, in new urban reforestation projects.

You cross San Polo Nuovo, walking past spaces such as the De André, Amicizia tra i Popoli, Alleruzzo and Cimabue gardens. Then the walk opens out into Parco Peppino Impastato, a young, extensive green area that heralds Sanpolino.

It’s a route of passage but also of discovery. A variant of Route 6, useful for seeing the most recent part of the city with fresh, curious eyes.

What to see

Sanpolino: where the metro becomes museum #2.
Here the pillars don’t just hold up the viaduct – they hold up stories. Almost one kilometre of murals by national and international artists turns Sanpolino into an open-air art gallery. Bold colours, clear messages: inclusion, memory, identity.
And it doesn’t stop there. With the Bepart app, the augmented street art museum, all you need is a smartphone to see the murals come alive and step towards you.

Where nature returns, magpies return too.
Among meadows, rows of trees and old irrigation ditches, nature is taking back space.
Foxes, hedgehogs and a surprising variety of birds and insects inhabit these green corridors between city and countryside.
Among all these presences, one stands out: the magpie, returning to the urban fringes with proud elegance. And the city once again finds itself dealing with a biodiversity that has never stopped knocking.

Useful information

The route begins at the Poliambulanza metro station and ends at Sanpolino station. Along the way there are also the San Polo and San Polo Parco stations, useful for those who want to shorten or customize the itinerary. Several bus lines (3, 9, 12, 13, 16) serve the area and make it easy to access from different parts of the city.
