Mina Mezzadri Theater

Mina Mezzadri TheaterContrada Santa Chiara, 50, 25122 Brescia BS
The former Church of Santa Chiara, now the Mina Mezzadri Theater, boasts a tortuous history that contributes to the charm of the place, enlivened by a lively program that strikes a balance between prose, music, and experimental performances.
THE THEATER
Nestled on the slopes of Cidneo Hill, below Brescia Castle, the theater is located in the former monastery of Santa Chiara Vecchia, a building that already existed in the 13th century.
After a long series of transformations, extensions, and renovations that saw the church first turned into a college, then a military hospital, and later a vocational training institute, in 1963 the complex was opened to the theater thanks to the Compagnia della Loggetta, which obtained the space from the Municipality of Brescia for the construction of a theater, offices, a set design workshop, and a cloister.
Under the management of CTB, Mina Mezzadri has become a benchmark for Italian experimental theater, thanks in part to its collaboration with nationally renowned directors and artists. Restored and modernized several times, most recently in 2023, the theater continues to be a place of innovation and experimentation without sacrificing its close ties to the local area and city traditions.
