Between via Casotti and via del Lapidario, in the San Polo Case district, there is a park that combines urban greenery and memory. It is dedicated to Santina Dusi and Ennio Doregatti, two protagonists of the Brescia Resistance.
A PARK THAT REMEMBERS TWO STORIES OF FREEDOM
Santina Dusi and Ennio Doregatti were among the protagonists of the partisan struggle in the Brescia area, within the ranks of the Fiamme Verdi.
Santina, a teacher originally from Ono Degno, became a partisan courier during World War II. She transported money and clothes between the Valle Sabbia and Val Camonica, contributing to the support of the brigades active in the mountains.
Ennio Doregatti, known by the battle name “Toni,” was a captain of the Giacomo Perlasca Brigade, active in Valle Sabbia. He participated in the actions of the Resistance and contributed to the protection of the valley's towns during the retreat of German troops.
Santina and Ennio got married in Presegno in 1945. After the war, they lived first in Castenedolo, then in Brescia, and after a period in Venezuela, they returned to the city, choosing San Polo as their home. They stayed here for about forty years, not far from the park that today bears their names.
Over time, they met several times with the schools in the neighborhood to share their experiences with new generations.
Today, this green space preserves their memory and brings it into the daily life of the neighborhood. A place of meeting and sharing where memory continues to live in the present.
