The Gabre Gabric outdoor track & field centre
Where sport is about technique, speed, breathing.
The highlight of this new area is the Gabre Gabric outdoor track & field centre, named after one of the historical figures of Italian athletics. Modern, spacious, built from scratch on a former agricultural area, the facility is now the heart of Brescian athletics.
Inside it boasts an eight-lane 400-metre track, platforms for the long jump, pole vault and high jump, and sectors for throwing and technical disciplines.
The atmosphere is that of a professional but friendly sports centre, where top athletes train, national and international competitions take place, but where amateurs also find space to practise.
It’s a place that encourages pure athletic practice, real connection with the body, and overcoming one's limits.
Some time slots are dedicated to sports clubs or events: it’s always best to check with the club for available access.
The Azeglio Vicini sports centre (ex Pampuri)
Sport for all, community spirit.
A few metres away is another key piece of the puzzle: the Azeglio Vicini Sports Centre, named after the historical coach of the Italian national team, and also known as the ex Pampuri Centre.
Here, sport changes pace: it becomes more social, horizontal, inclusive.
The centre has football pitches for amateur and school activities, spaces for mini-volleyball, basketball and team games, events and tournaments for all ages.
The atmosphere is more relaxed, but no less important: it reflects the idea that doing sport together makes us stronger.
A growing space
Between these two facilities, the Gabre Gabric outdoor and the Azeglio Vicini Sports Centre, a new indoor centre is being built, which will complete the San Polino sports hub. It’s an ambitious project that testifies to the district's vocation as a model of an active city that’s open, accessible, and ready to grow.
