The route
Trail 11 begins at the top of Via Piedimonte, in the Muratello district, where a clearly visible sign indicates the entrance. After passing a small concrete hump and a ditch for water drainage, the path begins to climb towards the mountain. It soon enters a shady and dense forest – characterised by ivy, ferns, thorns and brambles – often referred to as “Sentér del Negondol”, in the Val Denno area. The vegetation is dense, with spores, moss and often moist soil, making the first stretches a little’ “wild” and fresh.
As we proceed, nature changes appearance: we leave behind the thick shadows to open up on the pastures and meadows that mark the Roccolo area, near Cascina Zubani. The path, between red, white and green signs, then climbs towards Cascina Bianchini via a fork, gaining altitude on the slopes. At this point the route begins to share sections with other paths —in particular the Path of the Resistance and that of the Green Flame Brigades / The Ten Days — until it meets Via Bressana and touches the Pozza del Ruer.
The final section of Trail 11 is dominated by oaks, birches, and tall trees; shortly before the Doss del Brüch, a trail sign signals the arrival at Mount Maddalena. After passing three rocks (including “La Casa dell'Orso”), you take the descent/final that leads to the arrival point – often near the Il Grillo Restaurant – where two donkeys can symbolically welcome the walkers.
