Who decides who is Saint? What distinguishes spontaneous devotion from official worship? Why are some forms of popular faith accepted, while others remain suspect? The exhibition “Saints, but not too much. The behind-the-scenes look at holiness among devotions, memoirs, and archival sources” does not aim to distinguish between “true” holiness and “false” holiness, but rather to show how communities, institutions, and collective memory have constructed, discussed, and passed down the very idea of holiness over time.
Project organized by Archivio Storico Diocesano of Brescia, in collaboration with the Cattolica del Sacro Cuore University as part of the European project “Mystical Italy. The contested side of holiness”. With the involvement of the IISS Camillo Golgi.
