The route
Trail 10 starts from Via Debbeni, from where it heads towards the evocative “Val Fredda”, a cool and shaded section that invites you to let yourself be transported into the silence of the forest. Along this path, the traveler immerses himself in rich and varied vegetation: chestnut trees, brambles, elderberries, ferns, rowans follow one another, almost animated by a silent energy that seems to awaken with the rising of light.
One aspect that distinguishes this route is the presence of true works of environmental art: installations such as Letters for the Sky by Angelo Noce, Nomina si nescis, perit et cognitio rerum by Stefano Bombardieri, and the Sphere by Guido Moretti interact with the surrounding nature, helping to transform the forest into an open-air gallery.
As you climb, the route leads towards the old Polveriera, once a military depot, whose structures remain as a historical testimony to the mountain's past. In that stretch, you rely on the tree fauna: black hornbeams, beech trees and medolos accompany the path, while brambles and bushy areas add that “wild” touch that makes the path alive and authentic.
After crossing a small bridge over the Rio Val Fredda, the route passes the Cascina / Rifugio Valle di Mompiano: there is the junction with Path 16 and the point where, behind the refuge, the section called “Sentér dei Brüsacc” opens. From that junction, path 10 continues, now consolidated in the woods, towards the Pozza di Cascina Margherita, the final destination that suddenly appears, outside the tree cover and welcomes with its luminous landscape.
