The route

A big loop that encircles the Oltremella, the western side of Brescia – less central, but perhaps more authentically natural.

Here you don’t just pass through: you cross it. And as you do, you discover 18 green areas, each with its own character.

You walk alongside community gardens, open meadows, real woodland. You brush past social housing estates, residential zones and strips of nature that are still free. It’s a long itinerary, but never a boring one: from the quiet woods of the Brolo di Sant’Anna, to the beating heart of Villaggio Violino, all the way to Bosco della Badia, where centuries-old oaks grow and a tactile trail has been created for blind and visually impaired visitors.

The city is always there, just a step away, but here it feels distant. It’s another rhythm, another density. And every now and then, a short stretch of traffic reminds you that yes, you’re still in an urban context.

What to see

Murals in Villaggio Violino. Here the walls talk – and they have something to say.
In Violino, the Link Urban Art Festival has unleashed art. Vesod rewrites the Renaissance with spray cans and razor-sharp perspectives, while Centootto turns the walls into a living memory of the neighbourhood. Stories, faces, visions: the city looks at itself and reinvents its image.

In the woods, every step is a discovery.
Among the trees of the Brolo di Sant’Anna and Bosco della Badia, the forest sings: the woodpecker drums, the blackbird whistles, the blue tit answers brightly.
But the show isn’t only above you. Watch where you put your feet: beneath the leaves, a miniature world is alive.
Ground beetles on the hunt, springtails leaping, mites, mosses and snails inching slowly along.
All you need to do is slow down and observe. The forest will do the rest.
