Gallo Park

Between Via Cefalonia, Via Caleppe and Via Corfù, in the heart of the Don Bosco district, lies one of the largest and most popular green spaces in Brescia: Agostino Gallo Park.
The almost 40,000 square metres of green space used to be agricultural fields, but was rescued from over-development in the late 1980s. Today it’s a much-loved destination for families, sports enthusiasts and residents, but also a place that maintains its connection to the land and history.

From cultivated land to public green space

For centuries, this area was worked by the Botticini family. In 1987 it officially became a public park.
In 1993, the old Cascina Gallo farmstead was restored by the Compagnia del Parco cooperative and converted into a centre for social and cultural activities.
In 2018, the Cascina was redeveloped thanks to the collaboration between the Alborea Cooperative and the association Cieli Vibranti.
Today, the restored farmhouse is home to the music collection of Giancarlo Facchinetti, a great 20th century Brescian composer. A place that not only hosts, but transmits culture. Here, music meets green space. Memory meets the present.

The park is named after Agostino Gallo (1499-1570), Renaissance agronomist and author of “Dieci giornate della vera agricoltura”, a text on agriculture that revolutionised the way we cultivate and think about the rural landscape. His innovative spirit still lives among these trees.
Gallo Park is an area of the city designed for well-being.
It features find children's play areas, picnic tables, pergolas, benches, table tennis, toilets, drinking fountains, a bar-restaurant kiosk that’s very popular in fine weather, and shady avenues for walking, running, or just breathing fresh air.
