Palazzo Broletto (Broletto Palace) is one of the historical symbols of Brescia.
Once the seat of medieval seigniories, today it still houses the Prefecture, Province and municipal offices, confirming its central role in the administrative life of the city.
THE PALACE
Located between Piazza Paolo VI and Via Querini, Via Mazzini and Via dei Musei, the Broletto is an architectural mosaic:
- The Pegol Tower, standing proud and tall
- The Palatium Novum Maius and the Minus
- The Eastern and Western Gates
- The Malatesta Portico
- The Loggiato Da Lezze arcade
- The Church of Sant’Agostino
Each part tells a different page of the city’s history: Venetian, Renaissance, modern. One building, many stories.
The name is derived from "brolo", which in Latin meant a kitchen garden or garden.
In the Middle Ages, the term took on another meaning: it was the place where the future of the community was decided.
Today the Broletto is more than a palace, it’s a living symbol of the city, a bridge between the institutional past and the administrative present.
