The "Lodovico Giordani" Iron Museum is an integral part of MUSIL – Museum of Industry and Labor and represents a tribute to the industrial archaeology and artisanal knowledge that have shaped the economic and social history of the city of Brescia.
THE MUSEUM
Housed in the San Bartolomeo district within the historic Fucina Caccagni, accessible in its entirety, since 1984 the museum-workshop has allowed visitors to learn more about ironworking techniques through the exhibition of original tools, period photographs, models and multimedia installations.
Outside, along the Bova canal, you can also admire the only waterwheel still active within the city, recently restored along with the forge's plumbing systems.
Furthermore, since 2023, the Museum has been a member of ERIH – European Route of Industrial Heritage, ranking among the main sites of industrial archaeology in Europe and confirming itself as an unmissable stop on the “Road of Iron and Mines” of the Trompia Valley, part of a broad system of routes and museum centers that enhance the history of work and production traditions of the Brescia area.
