Bunkervik

Bunkervik was created through the renovation of the former air-raid shelter at Via Odorici 6/B, built in the 1940s to protect citizens from bombing raids. Today, this site has been reborn as a space dedicated to contemporary art in the heart of Brescia. Thanks to the efforts of the Palazzo Monti Cultural Association, the shelter’s historical legacy has been transformed into a creative hub, where the architecture of the past meets contemporary art and ideas.
THE PROJECT
Bunkervik was created in response to a call for proposals issued by the City of Brescia to manage and revitalize urban spaces, in collaboration with organizations such as Fertile and The Address.
The goal is to open the bunker to the public for at least 100 days a year, with a packed schedule of exhibitions, guided tours, and activities designed for local students and art schools.
By fostering connections between local and international artists, Bunkervik becomes a meeting place where the bunker’s concrete corridors and walls serve as a canvas for reflections on current issues, such as ecology and material recycling.
The center will officially open on April 29, 2026, with an exhibition by Caterina Gobbi (Six Zero Eight Eight One): an exhibition created specifically for these underground spaces, capable of uniting the history of the shelter with a desire to look toward the future.
