The exhibition "Songs of the Garden. The Poetry of Insects" is inspired by the Ethon mushi erami, a famous book of insects illustrated by Kitagawa Utamaro, one of the foremost experts in Japanese woodblock printing of the Edo period. Considered one of the most original illustrated Japanese works of its time, the collection centers on the small creatures of the garden. However, the theme also becomes a poetic pretext: alongside each plate are the kyōka, ironic and allusive compositions that conceal verses of love. Thus, the garden opens up to a dual perspective: that of nature and that of feeling.
